Colour Wheels

These colour wheels present a variety approaches to colour theory. The files can be downloaded and printed. The blank colourwheels can be coloured using your preferred media. They are all presented in PDF format and are 11k or less in size. Click on an image to view or download the file.

Simple six step

A colour wheel with six spaces filled with yellow, green, blue, purple, red and orange. Complementary colours appear opposite one another across the colour wheel.

Twelve step

A colour wheel with twelve spaces that has intermediate colours between primary colours and secondary colours (e.g. Yellow-orange, Blue-green). Its layout is similar to the outer part of the Itten colour wheel. Complementary colours are directly opposite one another across the wheel.

Venn diagram type

This type of diagram can illustrate additive or subtractive colour mixing. For subtractive colours the primaries (yellow, red and blue) are be placed in the outer portions of the circles. Where one circle overlaps with one other, secondary colours appear. Finally in the centre, where all three circles overlap, a dark tertiary colour is present. For additive colours the primaries red, green and blue are used, resulting in a white central section.

More colour wheels coming soon.
